INTRODUCTION


Parvati Devi also known as Amman, and also fondly called by the name “AMMA”, is the powerful Hindu goddess and she contains superior divine strength and power.  She is the gentle Hindu goddess, and is one of the most important deities of Hinduism. She is the mother goddess in Hinduism, and has many popular aspects. Along with Lakshmi and Saraswathi, she forms the trinity of Hindu goddesses (Tridevi). Parvati is the wife of the Hindu god Shiva, the sister of God Vishnu and the mother of Lord Vinayaka and Lord Muruga. 

Various temples are dedicated to Amman, and one such famous temple dedicated for Ma Shakti Devi is situated at Kalyanapuram, and the name of the temple is Arulmigu Manickanachiar Amman Temple. This is a small but a beautiful temple, and whoever visits this temple would get good peace of mind and they would be relieved from stress and tensions. The consecration ceremony of the temple took place during the year 2011. Youngsters used to visit this temple towards seeking for a bright future, like good education, job and for a good life partner. Donating lamp oil is auspicious, and devotees used to donate lamp oil at this temple, and would pray to the mother goddess in order to light lamp on their lives. This temple would be kept open for public view only during evenings, and while entering into the temple, devotees must carefully step in to the temple, since a big stone slab was laid on the temple entrance, in order to make the devotees to walk easily inside the temple.

Manickanachiar Amman is also worshipped by the local people as their village deity, also popularly known as "Grama Devata” and puja would be done to her mostly by the Non-Brahmin priest, and she would be seen well decorated with flowers especially during Fridays and festival days.
