GAYATRI ASHTAKAM

GAYATRI ASHTAKAM:

INTRODUCTION:

Ma Gayatri is the consort of Lord Brahma, and she is the giver of knowledge, wisdom and spiritual enlightenment.  By reciting Gayatri Ashtakam, also known as Gayatri Stotram, we would get                  goodness in our lives and all of our reasonable needs would be satisfied.

The contents present in the Gayatri Ashtakam are as follows:

I meditate on Ma Gayatri, Who is the consort of Lord Brahma, and who is worshipped by the saints and the sages, who gives good knowledge, who contains a beautiful face, who looks similar to the full moon, whose face shines like the sun, and who is the worshipper of Lord Vishnu, and who has five heads.

I meditate on Ma Gayatri, Whose body are filled up with flower garlands, and who contains wisdom and who blesses her sincere devotees.

I meditate on Ma Gayatri, who is also worshipped by the mighty demons like Prahalada and Vibhishana, and who is like Mother Earth, with regard to her patience, and whose vehicle is a beautiful swan.

I meditate on Ma Gayatri, who provides food, cloth and shelter to everyone, who is considered as the supreme Shakti, and she is the head of the entire universe.

I meditate on Ma Gayatri, Who gives suitable boons to the meditating person and who is the goddess of all Mantras.

I meditate on Ma Gayatri, who wears precious jewels and who contains divine weapons in her hands, and who looks like the glittering sun.

I meditate on Ma Gayatri, who contains supreme knowledge and who is very beautiful similar to the fresh lotus flower.

I meditate on Ma Gayatri, Who is worshipped by the divine maidens like Ramba and Urvasi, and who gives prosperity to all those who seek refuge on her.

I meditate on Ma Gayatri, whose significance cannot be described fully even by her consort Lord Brahma, and who stays permanently in the mouth of the Vedic scholars and all learned men and women.
