Holy Mountains

INTRODUCTION : 

God’s creations are wonderful, the natural beauty and the scenery make a feast for our eyes. The holy rivers, charming birds and animals, small insects, trees are all provides cheerfulness to us. By having a look at these things, we would forget our worries, and we can get great relaxation in our mind and body. Among all the beautiful creations by the god, Mountains plays a major role. Whether it may be big mountains or small hills, whatever may be, it gives pleasantness to us. During our long travels, we can observe the beauty of the mountains, and it provides coolness to our eyes. 

Mountains are formed before several lakhs of years. And their exact age cannot be determined. They are mentioned in Hindu Puranas and in other holy texts. Lot of stories are connected with various mountains, and they are considered as holy and sacred. Lot of deities are having temples in the holy mountains ranges, such as Thiruthani Murugan, Tirumala Venkateswara, Sholingur Narasimha Swamy, Ahobilam Narasimhar, Trichy Rock Fort Vinayaka, etc. Among the various mountains, Mount Kailash is considered as very sacred, and it is believed that Lord Shiva is residing there along with Mata Parvati with his various Shiva Ganas. 

Every year, lot of pilgrims are visiting this holy mountain Kailash, in order to get the blessings of the divine father and mother. The sacredness of Podigai Malai, Pachai Malai, Parvata Malai and Pavala Malai are mentioned in Tamil texts. In Ramayana, while Lord Hanuman was on his way to Srilanka, he was asked by Mainaga Malai to take rest at his abode for some time. But due to his urgency, he didn’t stayed there, but gently touched and blessed the holy mountain, and went to Srilanka, in search of Mata Sita. Similar to that Krouncha Malai was also mentioned in the ancient texts. Some people were climbed in the Everest Mountain, and they set a new track record, which everybody cannot do. Similar to that, lot of holy mountains are existing, since from the Vedic era. Whenever we come across any holy mountains, during our travels, let us bow our head, and offer our prayers to them, since they are also considered as an aspect of god.
