MAHALAKSHMI DEVI TEMPLE

INTRODUCTION :

There is a famous Mahalakshmi Temple situated in Kallur village, Karnataka, and this temple is famous similar to “Kolhapur Mahalakshmi Temple”.

The temple contains idols of both Lord Venkateshwara and Mahalakshmi. This temple was founded by a Madhwa scholar known as Sri Lakshmikanta Acharya in Kallur. Sri Lakshmikanta was a noble and a holy Madhwa scholar, and he was a sincere devotee of Kolhapur Mahalakshmi. He used to visit Kolhapur Mahalakshmi temple every year during Navaratri festival days. After Acharya had become old, he found it unable to visit Kohlapur.

Pleased by his devotion, Ma Kolhapur Mahalakshmi had decided to permanently dwell in his home, and during a Navaratri festival day, when Acharya had entered into his puja room, he was very much surprised to see the self-emerged idol of Kolhapur Mahalakshmi on his puja room.

From that time onwards, his house was transformed into Mahalakshmi Temple, and the temple is called as Kallur, Mahalakshmi Temple, and it is considered by the devotees similar to the Mahalakshmi Temple of Kolhapur. After some time, Acharya had found an idol of Lord Venkateswara in the field of a farmer at ‘Mamadapura village’. After getting permission from the farmer, he took the idol with him, and placed the idol nearby the idol of Ma Lakshmi at Kallur Temple.

Since Ma Kallur Mahalakshmi wilfully comes to this place, it is believed that whoever visits this holy shrine would prosper in their life. Still now the descendants of Sri Lakshmikanta Acharya are performing pujas at the temple.

Kallur village is located in Raichur district of Karnataka. The temple is surrounded by residential houses.  Visiting this holy Lakshmi Devi temple at Kallur, is similar to visiting the temples of Tirumala and Thiruchanur.

Let us visit this holy temple in order to get good name and fame, health and wealth, and to attain all kinds of prosperity in our life.
