Manickaswamy

INTRODUCTION :

Manickaswamy (20th century AD) was lived in Tiruvannamalai and he was considered as the important disciple and an ardent devotee of Sadguru Sri Seshadri Swamigal. He has moved closely with Swamy and closely observed many Siddhis of Swamiji and got attracted with him. Manickaswamy was born in a village at Tiruvannamalai into a poor Hindu family, and after finishing his education he left home, and become the disciple of the wandering saint Swamy Seshadri. He used to follow the saint like a shadow, and lived a noble life.

Daily he used to take alms and provide it to Swamigal. He would eat only the leftover food of Swamiji, and would not eat any fresh food. He used to sleep only for a few hours in the night, since swamigal doesn’t like him to sleep much in the night. Once he saw the entire universe in the mouth of Swami Seshadri, and got enlightenment. Sometimes he has received big blows from Swamiji, if he disobeys him. Manickaswamy considers his guru as the walking god of Tiruvannamalai and gives great respect to him. Without studying the Holy Scriptures he was specialized in divine matters, through the grace of Swamigal.

Sometimes he would be told by his guru to sit in a cave and do meditation for several hours, and he would follow it immediately. Once he found that through the grace of Swamiji, a dog was attained SALVATION, and afterwards, he has become a staunch devotee of Seshadri Swamigal. Similar to Swamiji, Manickaswamy would not properly take bath, and would not eat sufficient food, but even then, due to the grace of Swamiji, he looked healthier. Most of the people living in Tiruvannamalai, would seek his recommendation in order to meet Swamiji, since he has occupied a permanent place in the heart of Swamiji. After serving faithfully for several years to his guru Sri Seshadri Swamigal, due to Swamigal’s grace, after his death, he has attained SALVATION.

Let us worship the great person and be blessed.
