INTRODUCTION:

The Mundesvari Devi Temple is situated at Mundeshwari Hills, in Bihar, and this temple is surrounded with full of natural beauty. It is the temple of Lord Shiva and Ma Shakti and it is considered as a popular and ancient Hindu temple, and it is believed that this temple was built during the 6th century AD.

After the death of Mahishasura, who was killed by Ma Shakti Devi, Mahishasura’s attendants Chanda and Munda become sincere devotees of Ma Shakti Devi, and due to that they have built temples for her. It is believed that this holy temple was built by the great demon Munda, who was the then ruler of Bihar. Before becoming the devotee of Ma Shakti, Munda misunderstood her, and thought her to be a normal woman. According to legend, Bhakta Prahalada is an ascestor of Munda, who appeared before him, and told about the significance of Ma Shakti Devi, and asked him to build a temple for her at Bihar. Munda obeyed and carried out the instructions given by his great grand-father, Bhakta Prahalada, and built the temple. Since the temple was built by Munda, Ma Shakti Devi began to be called as Mundeswari. Every year during Vijayadasami and Shivaratri, lot of devotees from all parts of India, would visit this Holy temple at Bihar, in order to get the grace of Ma Mundeswari. This temple was repaired and renovated several times with the donations received from the kind hearted devotees.

Ma Mundeswari looks very charm, and she contains a smiling face, which conveys many good things to us.
