MAHARANI PADMAVATI

INTRODUCTION :

Padmavati (14th century AD), was a famous queen of the Mewar kingdom which is situated in Rajasthan. She was praised for her good manners, and she was considered as a holy and chaste woman. She contains very good qualities like inviting and providing food to the guests, showing kindness with everyone, giving good respect to the elders and sincerely worshipping the almighty etc.

She was married to Ratan Sen, who was the king of Chittor. Later when Ratan Sen was killed in the battle, the Delhi ruler, Alauddin was very much impressed with the beauty of Padmavati, and he tried to marry her. After knowing about his wish, since she didn’t wanted to become a queen for the Muslim King, Mata Padmavati committed suicide, and attained the divine abode. Padmavati was highly praised for her self-sacrifice and for maintaining her prestige before the Muslim Ruler. The life history of Rani Mata Padmavati appears in some Hindu texts. Ancient queens are considered as very holy women, and at any cost they would never wish to lose their dignity and chastity. They are considered similar to the Divine Devatas, and they are highly valued and prestigious people, and acts as an example for others.

Holy queens like Padmavati can also be worshipped by us, since Padmavati had lived a very pious life, similar to Mata Kannagi, Draupati and Vasuki. Worshipping the chaste women queens, saints and Rishi Pathnis would cleanse our mind and body, and bad things like lust, anger and greed would be erased from our mind, and we would become pure and would prosper in our life. Lot of feature films about her life history, have been displayed in the Cinema Theatres.  In the year 2018, a Hindi film was produced and telecasted in the Cinema Theatres in the name of Padmaavat.
