Vinayaka Purana

INTRODUCTION :

According to Vinayaka Purana, during the treta yuga, there lived a noble king named Rukmantaka, who ruled the southern part of India. He was very pious and an intelligent king and he treated all of his people in a good manner, and provided all sorts of benefits to them. During his period, there was no scarcity of food, no earthquake, there were no sufferings and sorrows and there was sufficient rain and all the food crops grow up properly and there was very good harvesting in his region.

Rukmantaka was an ardent devotee of Lord Vinayaka, and used to chant his mantra and his various names regularly. Once while he was hunting in a forest, he got thirst and he approached a woman and asked for water. That woman was very much attracted with him and wanted to unite with him. Rukmantaka didn’t agree for that. Due to that, the woman cursed him to become a leper. Immediately the disease spread all over his body and he didn’t went to his palace, but stayed in that forest itself, by chanting the holy mantra of Lord Ganesa. The next day morning, Lord Ganesa appeared before him, and rubbed all over his body with his gentle hands. Immediately the king got relieved from his disease, and become very handsome, and he worshiped the great Lord Ganesa, and returned to his kingdom. After ruling his country for a long period of time, he reached the Ganesa Loka, and he is still happily living there by worshiping Lord Ganesa.

Let us worship the great king and be blessed.
