Sri Lakshmana Swamy

INTRODUCTION :

Sri Lakshmana Swamy is a disciple of Sri Ramana Maharishi. He met Guru Ramana in the year 1949, and immediately he realized the presence of god within himself, by the grace of Sri Ramana Maharishi.

Sri Lakshmana Swamy was born in the year 1925 in Gudur, Andhra Pradesh. His attitude was changed at his teenage, and he suddenly felt the need of the god, since he was suffering from severe mental pressure, and found some uneasiness in his mind, and due to that he started doing Rama Nama Japa continuously. Due to that, he was able to control his mind, and become calm.

Gradually he realized the need of the god for life long, and began to meditate in the temples, by chanting “JAI SRIRAM” continuously.

During his college studies, he came to know about Sri Ramana Maharishi, through his college professor. Lakshmana Swamy, also read a small book on, “Sri Ramana Maharishi” and finally he decided that Guru Ramana would be his Guru.

Lakshmana Swamy reached Tiruvannamalai during the Vijayadasami day in the year 1949. As soon as he saw Guru Ramana, his mind was filled with full of joy, and realized a great pleasure, and found a great sense of satisfaction.

After the Mahasamadhi of Guru Ramana during the year 1950, Lakshmana Swamy stayed in Ramana’s ashram for few months, and then he moved back to Gudur.

He built an ashram at Chillakur, near Gudur, and stayed permanently there, and performed severe meditation on Lord Shiva. He used to have only fruits and milk as his daily food.

Let us worship the great saint and be blessed.
