Hariharananda Giri

INTRODUCTION : 

Hariharananda Giri (1907–2002), was a great spiritual master and saint who taught yoga, meditation and spirituality to the people in India and also to the people of foreign countries. His birth name was Rabindranath Bhattacharya, and born in Nadia district, West Bengal. He served as the chief of the Kriya Yoga Institute, United States.  He was a direct disciple of Sri Yukteswar Giri. 

LIFE

Hariharananda Giri, also called as baba, due to his spiritual powers, was a master in Kriya Yoga, and a great devotee of Sri Mahavatar Babaji. He contains great yogic powers similar to Lahiri Mahasaya, Yukteswar Giri, and Paramahansa Yogananda.

In 1932, he met Yukteshwar Giri and learnt Kriya Yoga in his ashram at West Bengal. After some time, he was named as Brahmachari Rabinarayan by his guru and become a great saint and lived in Karar Ashram at Puri, in Odisha.  He also learnt kriya yoga from Sri Paramahansa Yogananda, and Swami Satyananda Giri. He travelled to many foreign countries and spread the bhakti spirit among the people. He also had written books on Kriya Yoga and in his books, he mentioned about the importance of Hindu Religion and Meditation. He died in Miami in the year 2002 and he was buried in Orissa.

IMPORTANCE

He was a great scholar and a master in divine scriptures and also proficient in various forms of art. He taught the spiritual concepts to the people and to the devotees, for leading a peaceful and a blessed life. He had concentrated his attention on praying to the god, doing yoga, meditation and giving proper advices and lectures to his followers.
