Muruganar

INTRODUCTION :

Muruganar (1890-1973) is a great devotee of Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharishi. He was born in a pious Brahmin family in Ramanathapuram, Tamil Nadu. He composed lot of poems in praise of Ramana Bhagavan, and Lord Shiva with great devotion. His birth name was Subramania Iyer.

He was a great Tamil scholar, and for some time he worked as a teacher in a private school.

He visited Ramana during the year 1923, and immediately realized that Ramana Maharshi was his Guru. He also visited Sri Arunachaleswarar Temple. He used to prepare poems and show it to Guru Ramana, and he has been praised by Ramana for his good works. For a long time, he stayed with his Guru, and learned all the spiritual aspects, and shared it with others.

He lived a simple life by eating only a little quantity of food, and whatever money he has, he would donate it to the poor people, and also provided food to the wandering dogs and cats. He never used to keep any money for his own use, and he acts as an example for others. He also insists the people to worship Lord Shiva in order to attain the eternal bliss of the god and to get SALVATION.
