Chitrangada and Vichitravirya

INTRODUCTION :

Chitrangada was an ancient king and lived during the Dwapara Yuga. According to Mahabharata, he is the elder son of Shantanu and Satyavati.

Chitrangada had become the Kuru king after Shantanu's death. Chitrangada was an excellent warrior and contains very good qualities. Once he was killed in a battle held between him and the Gandharvas. After his death, his younger brother, Vichitravirya become the ruler of the Kuru dynasty.

After attaining teenage he got married to Ambika and Ambalika, the daughters of Kasi king. But after pleasantly living with his wives for some years, he fell sick and finally died, and he had no children. Finally through the great sage Vyasa, his wives were given birth to Dhritarashtra and Pandu, and whereas their maid servant gave birth to the noble Vidura, an incarnation of Lord Yama Dev, death god.
