GURUVAYURAPPAN BHUJANGAM

GURUVAYURAPPAN BHUJANGAM

INTRODUCTION

Guruvayurappan Bhujangam was written by Kodungallore Kunji Kuttan Thampuran, and he has also translated Mahabharatha into Malayalam language in a simple manner. Due to his expertise in writing work, he is also called as Vyasa of Kerala.

Lord Guruvayurappan is a form of Lord Krishna and he contains wonderful forms. In the great epic Narayaneeyam which was written by the Malayalam scholar Sri Narayana Bhattatiri, Guruvayurappan was very much praised, and the details about the various avatars of Lord Vishnu were also mentioned. Lord Guruvayurappan had appeared in the form of a small boy and resided in the homes of the 17th century saints like Kururamma and Vilwa Mangala Swamigal. Still now he is ready to dwell in our homes also, in the form of a handsome boy, based on our utmost devotion on him.

The beautiful contents present in the Guruvayurappan Bhujangam are as follows:-

Oh Lord Guruvayurappa, who lives in Guruvayur who was the Lord of the universe, Oh Govinda, Oh Achuta, Oh Ananta, Oh Krishna, Oh Vishnu, Oh Mukunta, Oh Gopala, Oh Kesava, Oh Narayana, Oh Ramana, please appear before me, and make me to get blessed with your lotus hands.

Oh Lord Guruvayurappa, you are the wish fulfilling cow, Kamadhenu,

and you are the  one who gives salvation to us.

Oh Lord Guruvayurappa, please remove the bad habits from our mind like ego, lust, anger and greed, and make us to think only about you, you and you only.

Oh Lord Guruvayurappa,

please remove the diseases from our body, and also relieve us from the chain of repeated birth cycles.

Oh Lord Guruvayurappa, you have been sanctified by the great Poet Sri Narayana Bhattathiri and through your blessings, he has written the wonderful work, Narayaneeyam,

which tells about your significance.

Oh Lord Guruvayurappa, who looks very beautiful by adorning the peacock feathers on your head,

and you are wearing precious ornaments which glitters like the sun, and you are the one who is the best saviour for your devotees.

You contain the weapons like Chanku, Chakra and Mace, and you are the one who blesses your devotees by offering abundant wealth to them.

You are the one, who help the people to attain wisdom and you have been always praised by the holy sages.

Your colour is amazing and attractive like that of the clouds, and we want to enjoy your divine beauty again and again.

You are the one, who is very kind on your devotees, and you are the one, who changes the sufferings of your devotees into happiness.

The way you had stolen the curd and butter,                           in the Gokulam had stolen our hearts, and the way you shared the spiritual pleasure with the Gopikas is very nice, and we want you to take Krishna avatar once more in the earth, in order to enjoy your childhood plays again and again.

You have been praised by Lord Indra and Lord Brahma, and you have shown your Viswaroopa Darshana to the world in order to change the ordinary people into your Bhagavathas.

Oh Krishna, you are the one, who is called as Guruvayurappan and dwells at Guruvayur, in order to shower your grace on us.

Oh Lord Guruvayurappa, you are the one, who stays permanently in the souls of your true devotees, and makes them to attain your lotus feet.

Of the great Lord of Guruvayur,

for us everything is Krishna only,

and we are always thinking about you, even without leaving a second .

Oh Lord of Guruvayur, You are the one who is beyond our imagination and you are the one who removes the illusions.

Oh Lord of Guruvayur, you have been occupied in each and everything present in the universe, and you also dwells in trees

animals, insects and birds.

Oh Lord of Guruvayur, I don’t want anything in this world, except your divine presence.

Oh Lord of Guruvayur, you are the one who is formless, but you have taken the form of Krishna in order to make us to properly realise you.

Oh Lord of Guruvayur, please give us sufficient strength in our mind and body and don’t leave us alone.

Oh Lord of the universe, I don’t want to take birth once again, please take me to your abode after my death.

Oh Lord of Guruvayur, you are my friend, philosopher, guide and god, and I want to glorify you by reciting your names and by singing innumerable songs on you.

Oh the killer of Kamsa. Please correct the bad minded people and make them into pure and pious.
