UDUPI SRI KRISHNA TEMPLE

INTRODUCTION :

Udupi Sri Krishna Temple is a popular Temple which is dedicated to Lord Krishna, who appears in the form of Child Krishna, also called as Balakrishna, and it is located in Udupi in Karnataka. Udupi is a sacred place, since it contains the Holy temple of Lord Krishna, as well as the other Holy temples such as the Udupi Anantheshwara Temple and Chandramouleeswara Temple.

The Udupi Krishna Mutt was founded by the Dvaita Saint, Shri Madhwacharya in the 13th century AD. Madhwacharya, was an incarnation of Lord Vayu Deva, and he was a highly knowledgeable person, and he was efficient in reading and discussing about Vedas and Shastras and other Hindu Holy texts. It is believed that Madhwacharya, was found the idol of Lord Krishna in a big sandalwood. Devotees are allowed to have the darshan of Lord Krishna through the inner window & the outer window. The great saint Sri Kanakadasa once visited this famous shrine, and in his memory a statue has been installed in the temple. The temple visiting time is 5 am to 9.30pm. The temple offers free food in the noon.

The administration is properly managed by the eight Krishna Mutts, and it is known for its ancient traditional customs, and the grand celebration of festivals and beautifully decorating the idol of Lord Krishna etc.

Festivals like Makara Sankranthi, Ratha Sapthami, Madhva Navami, Hanuman Jayanthi and Sri Krishna Janmashtami are celebrated in a grand manner at this temple. This holy Temple is visited by famous saints, and thousands of devotees are visiting this famous Krishna temple on a daily basis, in order to have the glimpse of Lord Krishna. It is advisable for childless couples and people with various health issues to visit this sacred temple, in order to get relieved from their problems.
