Saraswati

INTRODUCTION : 

Saraswati is the goddess of education and arts. She is the consort of Lord Brahma and resides in Satya Loka. She is worshiped similar to Mata Parvati and Lakshmi. Though there are independent temples dedicated to her in India, she is worshiped in separate shrines in shiva and Vishnu temples. She is also mentioned in the Rigveda and in other ancient sacred Hindu texts. Several sages and saints were praised her glory and got liberated by her. 

Generally she is depicted in the pictures as carrying a veena in her two hands, and holding a japa mala and divine books in her other two hands. She looks very beautiful and wears white garments with golden necklace on her neck and sitting in a white lotus flower. Her vehicle is the swan. Her face glitters like the “HOLY DHRUVA STAR”.

Vasant Panchami is celebrated every year as Saraswati Jayanti in all parts of india. She is also worshiped by the people belonging to Jain and Buddhism sects for gaining good knowledge in the divine subjects. Apart from Vasant Panchami, at the end of navratri festival, every year, Ayudha puja is celebrated as Saraswati puja by the Indian people, and would decorate her with flowers, and keep the study books of their children and also the divine books in their puja room on that particular day. She is also called by various other names:

8. Veenavadini 

9. Pustakdharini 

Saraswati is called the mother of the Vedas, and she is also called as Kalaimagal and Kalaivani. Her shloka and her importance were mentioned in the holy divine text “Devi Mahatmya”. By reciting her slokas, we would get good results in our life.

IMPORTANCE

Mata Saraswati is mainly worshiped for getting good education and for gaining good fortunes in the life. We can generally see the parents taking their children to the saraswati shrine before the start date of examinations, and offer puja and abhishekham to the goddess, in order to get favorable results in the examinations. By worshiping her, we will get good capacity to speak, and we can attract anyone through our good speech. Being the mother of knowledge and wisdom, she will give all sorts of good qualities to her children and took them to their interested career path.
